Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (52-70) scored more runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (50-72), 7-4, in 10 innings last night at Petco Park.
Jarred Cosart (0-1, 4.54) pitched five and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Chris Owings singled in the second inning to drive in Yasmany Tomas. In the seventh inning, a double-steal by Jean Segura and Paul Goldschmidt resulted in a throwing error by Derek Norris, allowing Segura to cross the plate. Segura’s single in the eighth inning drove in Owings and Rickie Weeks Jr.
Zack Greinke (11-4, 4.21) gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Christian Bethancourt‘s single brought Ryan Schimpf home in the second inning. Bethancourt scored in the seventh inning on a Nick Noonan sacrifice fly. In the eighth inning, Schimpf hit a two-run home run. Schimpf won the game in the tenth inning with a three-run home run. Schimpf ended his night 4-for-5 with two doubles and two home runs.
Clayton Richard (0-2, 5.75) gets the start in tonight’s game versus Robbie Ray (6-11, 4.47). First pitch is set for 5:40pm PDT.

KEYS TO THE GAME: GET SOME COFFEE MOTHERFUCKER IT'S GONNA BE A LONG NIGHT
— Oscar (@haha1721) August 20, 2016
Guess I’m not surprised that the group that thinks 7:40 Friday start times are a good idea also think that people want to listen to Sweeney.

I want Grienke to throw at Myers so we can break his other collarbone. #SDvsARI
— The Kept Faith (@thekeptfaith) August 20, 2016
Zack Greinke is good at pitching.
— Carlos Collazo (@CarlosACollazo) August 20, 2016
Pretty consistent that if Dick Enberg initially refers to something as a good bunt initially, it’ll end up not a good bunt.

Bourn didn't sell that "the ball went over the wall" act really well.
— Kevin Boileau (@CornfedFriar) August 20, 2016
Not sure I've ever seen a ball hit where Dickerson just did.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Sweeney keeps talking like casual fans are still watching this terrible team.
— SingingFriar (@singingfriar) August 20, 2016
That was not good outfield defense from Mr. Tomas.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Yasmany Tomas just played a deep Ryan Schimpf fly ball into a double. Second two-bagger for Schimpf.
— Ben Higgins (@BenHigginsSD) August 20, 2016
That's one of the worst calls I've seen in awhile, Olympics included.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Was Mike Winters staring at family in the stands? I could see from third deck that Schimpf was safe and he blew call from 10 feet away.
— Jay Posner (@sdutPosner) August 20, 2016
uhh…. wow lol #padres
— ryan (@ryanmtweets) August 20, 2016
What in the…
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Really hard to understand how that wasn't overturned. Schimpf was clearly in before the tag.
— Jeff Sanders (@sdutSanders) August 20, 2016
Mike Winters: the gift who keeps on giving.
— SingingFriar (@singingfriar) August 20, 2016
There's no excuse for that. Even sliding into the foot, he still easily got through the foot to the bag before the tag. Horrible decision.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Oh @MLBReplays…you've failed us again.
— Kevin Boileau (@CornfedFriar) August 20, 2016
@CarlosACollazo That's because people don't know if his name is pronounced like Gene Rayburn or Jean-Luc Picard.
— Ben Higgins (@BenHigginsSD) August 20, 2016
Dick, i can assure you that Altuve will not win the NL MVP. #Astros #dickisms
— VoteYesOnC (@TeeOhEmm) August 20, 2016
A closer, in a non-save situation, in the eighth inning, with just one out? What is this? I like it.
— Carlos Collazo (@CarlosACollazo) August 20, 2016
Norris is gritty. Norris is tough. Norris not Benito. Quit throwing from your knees, bro. And if he's injured, pull him.
— Alex Montoya (@AlexMontoya619) August 20, 2016
"Get some glasses, zebra!" is a new and fun umpire insult that I just heard.
— Carlos Collazo (@CarlosACollazo) August 20, 2016
This 4-4 game has been tied after every inning.
— Ben Higgins (@BenHigginsSD) August 20, 2016
I really hope no one at home tried to spice this game up by creating a mound visit drinking game.
— Carlos Collazo (@CarlosACollazo) August 20, 2016
#Dbacks don't get paid by the hour do they? Sure would explain A LOT
— Jeff Sanders (@sdutSanders) August 20, 2016
Can't we just skip ahead to the 14th when Edwin Jackson inevitably walks it off with a pinch-hit dinger?
— AJ Cassavell (@AJCassavell) August 20, 2016
Fans are chanting "Quack, Quack, Quack," but doing the Florida Gators chomping hand signal. What biology class did you all take?!
— Mike Janela (@MikeJanela) August 20, 2016
I'm tapping out. #Padres
— Ghost of Ray Kroc (@GhostofRAK) August 20, 2016
Neither of these teams want to tank bad enough. #Padres #Diamondbacks
— Richard (@gdarklighter) August 20, 2016
Jesus. Ryan Fucking Schimpf.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) August 20, 2016
Um, ok. Wow. #Schimpf
— SingingFriar (@singingfriar) August 20, 2016
That's some bull. fucking. Schimpft!

This is my favorite terrible Padres team.
